3 June 2009 New Ann Frank [ + you} Exhibition launches at Snibston Discovery Museum 4 - 30 June

A dramatic multimedia exhibition opens this week on Thursday 4th June at Snibston Discovery Museum, Community Gallery and will be showing until Tuesday 30 June.

Anne Frank [ + you} officially launches on Monday 8th June at 12 noon with the guest appearance of Gillian Walnes, Executive Director of the Anne Frank Trust UK and Professor Martin Stern, a Holocaust survivor. Visitors will be invited to sign the Anne Frank Declaration to pledge support to the victims of persecution and to take away their own card and view the free exhibition

Anne Frank is a name we are all familiar with and her diary has inspired millions the world over. It has been translated into 67 different languages and is now one of the most widely-read books in the world. This international exhibition from the Anne Frank Trust UK, has been created by a team including experts from the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam and the Oscar winning film director John Blair.

The heart and soul of the Anne Frank [ + you} exhibition is the spirit of Anne Frank: her words, wisdom and values. It explores the Holocaust and then presents contemporary issues, including racism in football, the right to wear religious symbols, bullying and the plight of child soldiers, achieved through interviews with British teenagers and photographs.

The exhibition at Snibston Discvovery Museum is probably quite unlike any you will ever have seen before. What makes it unique is the history of the Holocaust set within the context of the life and death of Anne Frank. It then powerfully confronts social issues in modern Britain.

Notes to editors:

Anne Frank [ + you } Exhibition is showing at Snibston Discovery Museum from 4 – 30 June and is FREE to visit in the Community Gallery in the front foyer area.

The Anne Frank Trust UK is the British partner organisation of the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam. Our mission is to draw on the power of Anne Frank's life and diary to challenge prejudice and reduce hatred, encouraging people to embrace positive attitudes, responsibility and respect for others.
